The Honda GY6 Engine is a small, 4-stroke internal combustion engine developed by the Honda Motor Company to power small vehicles. Honda perfected the engine design in the 1960's. Building upon that technology, a newer motor, the Honda GY6 Engine was produced in the 1980s. It's a single cylinder, air or oil cooled design that comes standard with two overhead valves. The GY6 power plant/engine has a built in swing arm with an automatic CVT transmission that's belt driven. If it's a 125cc or 150cc 4-stroke, it's typically lumped under the GY6 term. Other terms for 125cc and 150cc GY6 engines are 152QMI and 157QMJ (also QMI152 and QMJ157), respectively, and simply QMI and QMJ.
